Synthetic Drug Addiction
Getting hooked on synthetic drugs, or many other substances, can cause lives to spiral out of control.
Drugs are becoming more severe and causing more people to become severely addicted.
Deacon Dan Powers with Catholic Social Services says marijuana that is used today is much more potent and dangerous than the drug was in the 1960s and ’70s.
Sometimes the hardest part about the addiction is knowing when to get help.
A woman recovering from addiction spoke with ABC 10 for this story.
We’ll call her Jill, which is not her real name.
Jill was addicted to heroin and fake bath salts for more than a year.
She says the arrival of bath salts in the U.P. got her off heroin, and she liked that at first, but it turned into another addiction and it ruined much of her life.
Jill’s story is intriguing and frightening.
We’ll share more with you about her history, her recovery and her future goals next week.
