Fundraising for a new Copper Country Playground
It’s been almost 60 years since the playground outside of Copper Harbor’s One Room Schoolhouse was built. But, a major fundraising effort is underway to build a new one.
They still have a long way to go but the kids of Copper Harbor are $10,000 closer to having their new playground.
Portage Health donated the money to the Copper Harbor Playground Project.
The current structures were built in 1954 and are not up to code. The new playground will be quite an improvement over what they have right now.
It’s hoped that this donation is just the beginning. The children say they can hardly wait until the playground is built.
The cost of the project is $145,000, of which the group has raised just over a third of the money needed. The goal is to have the playground built by August of next year.
