Here in the Upper Peninsula…firefighters continue to put their lives on the line to battle wildfires—meanwhile…Downstate…a man is guilty of setting them.
 
And for that…he’s going to jail.
 
71-year old Howard LeRoy of Houghton Lake was sentenced earlier this week for intentionally setting up to seven fires in the woods in Roscommon County.
 
The Department of Natural Resources noticed a trend of unexplained…suspicious fires and initiated an investigation that led to LeRoy’s arrest.
 
In addition to one year in jail…he will spend two years on probation and pay more than $13,000 in restitution.
