Inmate was strangled
The investigation continues into the death of an inmate last week at the Alger Maximum Correctional Facility.
Authorities say 39 year old Carlos Marquis Love was strangled. The Detroit man was serving time for Armed Robbery and Prisoner Possessing a Weapon. He had been incarcerated since 1992.
A suspect has been identified, but that information has not yet been released. An inmate notified staff last Thursday that Love had suffered a seizure and was unconscious. Attempts by prison staff to resuscitate the victim were unsuccessful.
The incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police and Department of Corrections.
