Northern Initiatives Leads in Starbucks Contest
Marquette, MI – April 17, 2012 – Halfway through the contest, local non-profit is leading by a narrow margin. With two weeks of votes now completed in the Starbucks Vote.Give.Grow Program, Northern Initiatives’ first place lead stands at seven votes in the Michigan competition.
The Starbucks Vote.Give.Grow. Program gives selected non-profit organization the chance to receive grant funding as large as $35,000. Comprising of 61 unique regions (50 states and 11 metropolitan areas), the Vote.Give.Grow. Program positions 4 non-profit organizations in each region to compete for votes to determine the winner of that region. The competition runs through the month of April.
Since the announcement of Vote.Give.Grow., Northern Initiatives has worked hard to create community awareness of the program and has seen that effort rewarded in its first place standing. “We are half way to $35,000, and the next two weeks are critical to have those who have voted continue to vote and to add new supporters to help us grow this margin,” stated Dennis West, President of Northern Initiatives.
With only two more weeks left to vote, Northern Initiatives needs the community to show their support and keep voting. Voting can only be done once a week, so every vote received from now until the end of April will be extremely important. Supporting Northern Initiatives, and encouraging friends and family to do the same, can bring $35,000 of new resources to our region.
