Nearly 100 dog lovers are better equipped to train their pets thanks to a workshop at the Copper Country Humane Society.

Humane Society Board Member LeRita Allert was thrilled with the turn–out and hopes the lessons learned will benefit both the owners and their dogs.

Animal Behaviorist Doctor Susan Kapla gave the lecture and demonstration to a standing room only crowd.

Participants learned how to teach their dogs recall techniques as well as simple commands like sit.

When it comes to training, Doctor Kapla said, just like in any relationship, it’s important to make sure there’s a good match.

If your dog has an accident…Doctor Kapla’s advice was to hit yourself in the head with a newspaper.

She doesn’t believe in term “bad dog”.
