Benishek Comments on FY 2013 Budget Plan

WASHINGTON, DC:  Congressman Dan Benishek (MI-01) today released the following statement following the introduction of the House FY 2013 Budget Plan:

“The House budget plan introduced this morning is an excellent starting point to begin a serious conversation about America’s spending priorities.  There is no doubt that the Congressional budget process is broken.  The government is routinely funded by short-term resolutions and the U.S. Senate has not even passed a budget in over three years.

As America’s federal debt has grown to nearly $16 trillion, Washington has continued to avoid making any tough spending decisions.  Reasonable people might disagree with particular components or spending cuts in this budget plan, but I believe we all must recognize the vital need to begin a national effort to make a fiscally stronger nation.
