St. Patrick's Day Drunk Driving Patrols
You’re likely to see plenty of people wearing the color green tomorrow.
And because St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, more of us are likely to be out partying than usual.
The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning recognizes that, too.
It usually provides funding for extra drunk driving patrols around St. Patrick’s Day every year.
Marquette Police Capt. Blake Rieboldt says agencies across Marquette County have received some of that money.
He recommends taking some common–sense steps to plan ahead if you plan on drinking tomorrow night, like using a designated driver, calling a cab or walking if you have to.
The extra patrols won’t end on Monday, either.
They’ll be on the roads through April 2nd.
Local police, sheriff’s departments and the Michigan State Police will all be involved.
