Maple Manor Bought in Ontonagon
There’s some good news in Ontonagon County. With the closure of the Smurfit Stone Container Mill and the Pamida store closing in the near future, residents are anxious for some good news.
After employment struggles over the past several years, there is a bright light of hope in Ontonagon County. The build up of Maple Manor may serve as a beacon of hope in the Village of Ontonagon.
The former nursing home closed about 3 years ago and has been vacant since. The owners of the nursing home donated the facility to the village and the community maintained the utilities while hoping to find a buyer.
Mike Melby of Burlington Wisconsin purchased the facility with the
intent to turn it into an assisted living facility. Melby says construction should begin in the coming months, and the facility should be up and running in about a year.
