MAPS School Board Talks Bullying
The issue of bullying was on the agenda at the Marquette Area Public School Board meeting tonight.
A newly mandated law from Lansing is requiring that all school districts re–vamp bullying policies. The new law from lansing requires that the district specifically address bullying.
With the recent rise in the number of suicides around the area, MAPS is looking to incorporate violence and suicide prevention issues with their bullying policy.
Among other topics discussed tonight at the MAPS School Board meeting was the issue of budget planning regarding salaries and benefits. The district is looking at a funding gap of 2.5 million dollars for the 2012–2013 school year.
