Musical Alzheimer's Fundraiser
A Negaunee native who now lives in Green Bay once again returned to the U.P. to raise money for a favorite non–profit group.
Jeff Jennings walked from Marquette to Norway last summer to raise money for the alzheimer’s association.
He’s also a singer, and on Sunday he visited Marquette to autograph copies of his newest CD, “Love Songs by Request”.
Ruth Almen of the Upper Peninsula Region Alzheimer’s Association says Jeff’s father suffers from the disease, so he enjoys making the trip for what’s now become an annual event.
More than five million Americans have Alzheimer’s.
It’s the sixth–leading cause of death in the U.S.
But there’s a new development in Washington about research.
Almen says President Obama has recently committed federal funding to Alzheimer’s research for the next three years.
Sales of Jennings’ “Inspire” CD, from 2010, raised $1,400 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
