Visitors limited at Portage Health
A local respiratory infection among children has led to changes in visiting policies at Portage Health.
In a press release, the hosital said it is due to a high occurrence of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases amongst local youth that the Portage Health Family Birthing Center will be temporarily closed to visiting children. This change in policy is effective immediately.
RSV is a contagious viral disease that can lead to serious health problems, especially for newborns.
Healthy adults are still allowed to enter the birthing center during regular visiting hours (Daily, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.), but until Portage Health officials feel the number of cases is significantly lowered, children will not be allowed to enter.
