UP Walking Event Big Hit
Upper Michigan residents hit the pavement indoors tonight in a community effort to get fit. More than 200 people participated in the Marquette County walking event at the Superior Dome. The program attracts a variety of athleticism from those hitting the track for the first time to the most avid walkers.
Participants also had the opportunity to sample healthy foods, check out educational materials and even win some prizes.
Community Walk Coordinator Barb Coleman says the next walking event should follow the same laid back format. Tonight’s program was co–sponsored by Northern Michigan University the Marquette County Health Department and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
