Stabbing Suspect Sentenced
A Houghton County woman who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend is free from jail.
27-year-old Melanie Phillips of Hancock pled no contest to Aggravated Domestic Violence and was sentenced to 15 days in jail with credit for time served.
On January 8th…Phillips is said to have used a knife to stab 34-year-old Clint Salmi.
Salmi was treated and released at Portage Health in Hancock.
Police arrested Phillips at her residence and initially charged her with felonious assault.
An agreement was reached for the no contest plea by Phillips for the lesser misdemeanor charge.
Phillips was released with probation for three to 24 months and ordered to pay $565 in fines and costs.
