Houghton County Sheriff's Department gets grant money
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department will be able to purchase a new patrol vehicle thanks to a federal grant.
U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow announced the $12,000 grant yesterday from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.
These grants are meant to support first responders, finance infrastructure improvements, and help boost economic development in rural communities in Michigan.
Senator Stabenow said that public safety remains a top priority for communities hard hit by budget cuts and adds that a new 24–hour patrol vehicle will help Houghton’s police force keep families safe.
