Therapy Dogs Help Kids Reading Skills
Its a well known fact that dogs can lower blood pressure and stress levels. They can help get their owners into shape and now in Marquette County they are helping children to read.The Peter White Public Libraries pet partners is back after a holiday break. Tonight area children lined up for a chance to read to the programs feature guests–four therapy dogs eager to lend their canine ear. When pet partners first started, individual reading sessions were scheduled.The library now runs a weekly group session in the hopes of attracting more kids. And judging by Tonight’s turnout it seems to have worked. Dog nights at the library take place each thursday evening at 6 pm. All children are encouraged to come out and increase their skills and confidence by reading to a friendly dog who is sure to never criticize.
