Cliffs Makes Major Food Bank Donation

Cliffs Natural Resources has contributed more than $40,000 to food banks at U.S. operations through the Cliffs Foundation.

“In today’s challenging economy, families near our mining operators are finding themselves stretched and turning to local food banks for assistance,” said Dana Byrne, vice president of public and environmental affairs. “This is an opportunity for Cliffs to provide some assistance to organizations that help families in our local communities.”

Food banks run by the Salvation Army in Ishpeming and the St. Vincent dePaul Society in Negaunee each received $5,000 contributions. Lt. Stephen Hansen of the Ishpeming Salvation Army and and Steve Perucco of the St. Vincent dePaul Society accepted the $5,000 checks from Jennifer Huetter, district manager of public affairs in Michigan for Cliffs Natural Resources.
