Songer will give presentation at NMU
Dr. Matthew Songer, the executive in residence at Northern Michigan University’s College of Business, will share his perspectives as a physician, inventor, engineer and entrepreneur in a public presentation on new frontiers in business. The event is scheduled at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, in the Huron Room of the University Center. A reception will follow in the Erie Room.
Because of his varied experience, Songer can address a number of relevant topics: product development, inventive problem-solving, prototyping, quality control, intellectual property rights and filings, working with government regulators, international expansion and marketing. He is a Marquette-based orthopaedic and spine surgeon. He also serves as president and board chair of Frontier Medical Devices, a research, development and manufacturing company established in 2010.
Songer founded Superior Medical Research Foundation to advance research in the Upper Peninsula and Pioneer Surgical Technology to address what he saw as a lack of innovative orthopaedic and spinal implants and instruments to treat degenerative conditions and traumatic injuries. He holds numerous patents and maintains more than 65 patent applications.
