Marquette House Fire
Firefighters from the Marquette City Fire Department responded to a house fire around 9 last night.
The fire at 505 East Arch Street was confined to the basement of the residence.
It was brought under control and extinguished within 30 minutes.
The basement sustained some moderate damage, but it could have been much worse.
Marquette Fire Chief Tom Belt says there was photography equipment in a different section of the basement from where the fire took place.
The flames didn’t spread to that equipment.
Firefighters were assisted by the Marquette Police Department, Ambulance 156, SEMCO Gas and the Marquette Board of Light and Power.
The fire remains under investigation.
