Black Friday Bomb Threat Investigation

The investigation continues tonight into the Black Friday bomb threat that forced the closure of several businesses in the Marquette area.

The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the incident is now at $2,250.

The evacuation of shoppers from several stores and a hotel in Marquette and Marquette township came on the busiest shopping day of the year.

Customers were evacuated for about an hour and a half after the bomb threat at several locations.

But the business community stepped up to a challenge to build a reward fund.

Mining Journal publisher and CEO Jim Reevs says the paper started the reward fund out of disgust at the effect the threats had on not only shoppers, but employees of the affected businesses.

Cedar Motor Inn co-owner Lyn Durant says she was glad to contribute to the fund, calling the threat situation unacceptable.
