Manistique House Fire
A home in Manistique took heavy damage in a fire this afternoon.
Manistique Public Safety says it happened at 726 Manistique Avenue.
Shortly before 3:30 this afternoon, a passer-by saw the fire and called it in.
When crews got there, they found the kitchen and the attic fully engulfed.
Firefighters quickly put the flames out.
The man renting the house wasn’t at home at the time, and none of the firefighters were hurt either.
Those crews rescued a dog that they found inside the house.
The Hiawatha Township Fire Department, Sault Tribal Police, State Police from the Manistique Detachment and the Schoolcraft County Chapter of the Red Cross helped out at the scene.
