L’Anse Village Council meets
The L’Anse Village Council received confirmation last night that the utilities will remain on at the former Baraga County Memorial Hospital… at least until late February.
Public Works Director Scott Lloyd reassured council members that the old building will remain heated… and the power will stay on.
That will continue to provide some revenue to the village utility services. The former hospital has been empty since the new Baraga County Memorial Hospital opened in the spring.
The county has proposed using the building to house offices and courtrooms… but a millage proposal to pay for the renovation failed last summer.
Another vote has been scheduled February 28th… on the same ballot as the Republican primary.
In a brief meeting last night, the L’Anse Council renewed its contract with its current building inspector… and put off receiving a request for an industrial tax abatement for the L’Anse Manufacturing Company until next month.
