Updates on U.P. M-DOT projects
M-Dot has announced that US 41 Reconstruction in Menominee is complete. Work concluded with the removal of a temporary traffic signal at the intersection of US-41/48th Avenue at the north limits of the project. The $9 million project started in 2010 to widen the roadway from four lanes to five between 20th Avenue and M-35, and convert the segment from M-35 to 48th Avenue to three lanes. The project also included, a center left-turn lane, new concrete curb, gutter and sidewalks, storm sewer replacement and replacement of the water and sewer utilities in a joint project with the city.
After being closed to traffic nearly a year for reconstruction, the US-141 interstate bridge between Breitung Township, Mich., and Niagara, Wis., has reopened. A dedication ceremony was held Friday to include the renaming of the bridge “Veterans Memorial Bridge” in honor of veterans.
The new $6.6 million bridge, replacing the one built in 1929, features two 12-foot-wide travel lanes, 10-foot-wide paved shoulders, and a 6-foot-wide paved sidewalk separated from traffic.
