Pink Experience Weekend
The final figures have not been tallied yet.
But by all accounts, the Pink Experience at Northern Michigan University over the weekend was a smashing success.
Volleyball and hockey events raised more than $10,000 in pink jersey auctions alone.
The pink hockey jerseys brought in just over $7,000.
The volleyball jersey auction raised about $3,000.
And attendance for the hockey game topped 4,200.
Jim LaJoie of the Marquette General Foundation says the Pink Experience has proven to be a great partnership between MGH, NMU and VAST of Marquette.
MGH vice president and chief integration officer Jan Hillman is herself a breast cancer survivor, and she says after she had her biopsy, she had to wait three weeks to learn her diagnosis.
She’s thrilled that the Pink Experience will help reduce that wait to less than a day.
The wait will be minimized by digital stereotactic imaging equipment that the proceeds from the Pink Experience will help purchase.
The Pink Experience raised more than $30,000.
Some of that money has come from sales of the Pink Warriors calendar, which depicts breast cancer survivors like Hillman.
