Suspects Named in Copper Country Crime Spree
The identities of the two suspects in the Bootjack Road area burglaries are now known.
18-year old Jakob Hill of Lake Linden and 19-year-old Cody Schmidt of Moose Lake are being held in the Carlton County Jail in Minnesota.
State police have been able to recover numerous stolen items from a residence in Lake Linden but the two teenagers left Michigan on Sunday. Authorities in Minnesota were given the description of a vehicle belonging to one of the suspects.
That vehicle was discovered in the Fond du Lac College dorm parking lot on Monday and was towed away. Several more stolen items were found in the trunk including firearms, electronics, and sporting goods.
The suspects were then located and arrested on Wednesday.
Hill and Schmidt are believed to be involved in at least 20 burglaries in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
They are currently facing numerous felony counts in relation to those burglaries.
