Banks’ Reaction to Recent Robberies

So, the tally is five people in custody in connection with robberies or attempted robberies at three U.P. banks in the past two weeks.

Bank officials we spoke with across the U.P., and at the banks targeted in these incidents, say they are first and foremost relieved that the perpetrators have been caught.

E.J. Kostreva, northern district president of Northern Michigan Bank and Trust, says they show the same appreciation and confidence in law enforcement officials from the local level right up to the FBI.

Another official at a different U.P. bank says these crimes do raise awareness on the part of both the customer and employees.
