NICE School Board Meeting Heats Up When Teachers Discusss Contract Negotiations

After several months of negotiations NICE community schools has yet to settle on a contract for its teachers in the district.

At a regular scheduled school board meeting this evening area teachers, parents, and even a few students gathered to express their feelings to the board.

After two mediation attempts a contract agreement has not been reached.

At six weeks into the 2011–2012 school year, teachers say the lengthy negotiations are becoming a distraction.

After public comment Board President Brett French addressed the audience saying the board has a lot of work left to do and they don’t view the teachers as the enemy, but as their valued faculty and staff.

A third mediation is scheduled for early November.
