Truck Accident Leads to Power Outage
Dozens of people in Gwinn are without electricity tonight because of a cement truck accident that knocked down some power lines.
It happened just before 5:30 tonight at the intersection of East Bass Lake Road and Bianchi Lane.
UPPCO says the truck knocked down some power lines and broke a utility pole.
But they don’t know if an impact from the truck did that or if the pole and lines came down from the tension of the truck pulling on them.
The driver remained inside the truck after the accident because of the hazard of having an electric line right over it.
But Forsyth Township Police do not believe the driver was trapped inside.
Police also don’t have any word on whether or not the driver was hurt.
UPPCO says 91 people living nearby are without power.
They have crews working on the outage, and they say it should be resolved within the next few hours.
