New Marquette Bike Path

The city of Marquette will soon add to its bikeability with the final stages of a new bike path being completed along Lake Street.

The new path, which is just about a mile long, was paved today.

City engineer Keith Whittington says it links the path that runs through Marquette to the south trail that leads to Harvey.

Crews began working on the new bike path on July 25th.

It should be complete in the next week or so after some final sod and seed has been put down.

The new path covers the old railroad grade that once ran along the lake.

The project was paid for with a grant from the state.
