Portage Health to offer free athletic screenings to area student athletes
HANCOCK ¬– Portage Health is offering free athletic screenings to student athletes from Hancock, Jeffers, Dollar Bay, Houghton, Stanton and Chassell schools on Tuesday, June 14. The screening will cover the necessities in order for an athlete to be eligible to participate in Michigan school sports.
“We’re excited to offer these free screenings for student athletes again this year,” said Shannon Richter, a Unit Manager at Portage Health who’s organizing the event. “Kids from nearly all Houghton County schools will be able to get their screening free of charge.”
To control the traffic all participants are asked to bring the physical form from the school with the health history area and parent signature filled out. Athletes are also asked to bring glasses or contacts if they wear them.
“This is a very popular event, so we ask that paperwork gets filled out ahead of time to keep the line moving,” Richter said.
Students should arrive at their school’s appointed time and location. A full schedule can be found below.
