Blues for Life Cancer Benefit
A fundraiser combining great-tasting food and great-sounding music is back for a fifth go-round.
The Blues For Life cancer benefit is this Saturday at the Lagniappe restaurant in Marquette.
It’s the biggest fundraiser of its kind in the area, and the night is jam-packed with fun and entertainment.
The benefit was started by one local cancer survivor who felt the overwhelming need to give back to those suffering from the same disease she once had.
Lorrie Hayes was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.
She is also the lead singer of local musical favorites, the Flat Broke Blues Band, and she thought organizing a music-themed affair to help out the American Cancer Society was a natural match.
The evening combines live music, motorcycles and Cajun/creole food.
All proceeds directly benefit cancer research and recovery programs in the U.P.
The blessing of the bikes starts at 11am Saturday.
The events at the Lagniappe begin at 5pm and go until 10.
Tickets cost $25 each, and besides the Lagniappe itself, you can find them at The Screened Image and Bald Eagle Harley-Davidson.
