Effects of Looming Federal Shutdown
The nation still is on hold as the country moves closer to a shutdown of the federal government.
Although the lawmakers who can’t reach a compromise on the budget will still draw a paycheck, their staff won’t.
800,000 federal workers won’t get paid, and the nation’s military members may not be paid on time.
The IRS won’t process paper tax returns.
Passports won’t be issued.
Social Security payments should still be made, but VA benefit payments won’t.
We mentioned a little earlier in this story that passports won’t be issued.
That aspect of the looming federal shutdown is affecting the 3rd annual Passport Day in Marquette County.
It was on the schedule for tomorrow morning at the Marqette County Clerk’s office, but it has now been cancelled.
