Esky Man Arrested After Fleeing Accident
Police in Wisconsin have found the driver from a high-speed crash yesterday.
The Florence County Sheriff’s Department says it’s 29-year-old Jeffery Dickerson of Escanaba.
The wreck happened just after 9 Central time last night on US-2 in Spread Eagle near the Chuckwagon Bar.
Dickerson is believed to have been speeding when he lost control of his car on a curve and rolled over into a ditch.
A sheriff’s deputy saw it happen, and when he turned on his red lights, the driver got out and fled on foot.
A passenger, 41-year-old Robert Hanley of Escanaba, tried to escape and was also arrested.
Hanley and another passenger, 29-year-old Christopher Johnson of Rapid River, were taken to Dickinson County Healthcare System in Iron Mountain for treatment of injuries.
Hanley suffered a serious wound to his arm.
Dickerson entered the Gold Nugget Bar in Spread Eagle immediately after the accident.
Police say he fled the bar when a bartender called 911.
A deputy arrested Dickerson this morning, and he’s being held in the Florence County Jail awaiting arraignment.
