MGH Starts Geriatric Fellowship Program

UNPRECEDENTED ATTENTION TO ELDERLY ISSUES IS COMING TO THE U–P.

WITH ONE OF EVERY SIX U–P RESIDENTS OVER THE AGE OF 65, MEDICAL CARE TO THIS POPULATION GROUP IS VITAL.

ACROSS THE NATION, THERE IS A SHORTAGE OF MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS WHO SPECIALIZE IN GERIATRIC MEDICINE.

THIS MORNING, MARQUETTE GENERAL HOSPITAL LAUNCHED THE FIRST GERIATRICS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM.

IT’S A JOINT PROJECT WITH MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY.

THE FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM AT MARQUETTE GENERAL HEALTH SYSTEM HAS BEEN THE MAIN SUPPLIER OF CAREGIVERS TO SENIORS.

DOCTOR PAWNEET SINGH IS A THIRD YEAR RESIDENT AT THE MARQUETTE FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM,

HE GRADUATES FROM THE RESIDENCY PROGRAM IN JUNE, AND WILL BEGIN HIS ONE–YEAR GERIATRICS TRAINING IN JULY

DR. SINGH WILL BE TRAINING AT THE D.J. JACOBETTI HOME FOR VETERANS, THE NORLITE NURSING CENTER, BROOKRIDGE HEIGHTS ASSISTED LIVING AND AT MARQUETTE GENERAL HOSPITAL.

AFTER DOCTOR SINGH, ONE FELLOW WILL BE TRAINED EACH YEAR.
