Vehicle Theft Spree in Newberry
State Police from the Newberry Post are asking you to lock your cars at all times and to never leave the keys inside.
This comes after an auto theft spree overnight.
Around 1:30 this morning, troopers responded to a report of a van being driven recklessly.
While they were out on that call, they saw a car run a stop sign and fail to pull over for them.
The teenage driver missed a turn, slid off the road and hit a tree.
When the youth tried to flee on foot, police arrested him and they learned the car had been stolen.
The car’s owners told police their pickup truck was missing from their driveway as well.
And during the pursuit, state police were told the van from the first call had also been stolen.
The stolen van and stolen pickup were both found abandoned on the east side of Newberry.
If you have any information, troopers from the Newberry Post are asking you to give them a call.
