Competency Hearing Ordered for Alleged U.P. Bomb Maker
A Kingsford man accused of putting an explosive device in a Federal Building downstate has been ordered to undergo a competency hearing.
42 year old Gary Mikulich was in Federal Court in Marquette today.
He’s charged with attempting to destroy federal property by leaving explosives at the McNamara Federal Building in Detroit last month.
He was arrested Thursday after he was linked to the bag concealing the explosive device.
Mikulich has claimed to have been nominated as the President of the United States and routinely contacts local police, sending 11 faxes to the Iron Mountain Police Department so far this year.
Mikulich could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
