Fatal Wakefield House Fire
An early-morning house fire claims the life of a Wakefield woman.
The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department says the fire on Charles Street in Wakefield happened just after 4 Central time this morning.
The victim has been identified as 84–year–old Annie Helberg.
The fire was reported by a neighbor.
When firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed and the flames were spreading to the garage.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
