Great Lakes Water Levels Expected Down This Summer
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says the water levels in 4 of the 5 Great Lakes are expected to be mostly lower this summer for boating season.
The organization says Lake Ontario is the only Great Lake expected to have the same water level in 2011 that it did in 2010.
The Corps says this summer’s level on Lake Superior will be 13 to 15 inches below 2010 and roughly 13 inches below its historical average.
Lake Michigan is expected to be 7 to 12 inches below 2010, which is approximately 22 inches below average.
