Missouri Man Dead in Snowmobile Wreck
Another fatal snowmobile accident in the U.P., this time in Houghton County.
A Missouri man was killed last night in Elm River Township.
The accident happened just after 10:30 when his machine left Trail #3 and hit a tree.
24–year–old Zachary Fish from Ellisville, Missouri was thrown from the machine and killed.
Fish was riding with a group of co–workers and friends that included his parents.
State Police from the L’anse Post and the Houghton County Medical Examiner are still investigating.
This accident brings the total number of U.P. snowmobile fatalities for this season to 4.
7 others have been reported downstate.
The snowmobile season in Michigan starts in December and runs until the beginning of April.
Of the 21 statewide snowmobile accidents last season that resulted in fatalities, 8 were in the U.P.
73% of snowmobile deaths last season occurred in the evening hours, typically after dark.
