Truck Through Thin Ice in Delta County
Two men are recovering after plunging through thin ice in Little Bay de Noc.
Gladstone Public Safety says it happened shortly after 5:30 last night.
Matt Pelton of Gladstone and Paul Deneau of Escanaba were driving a pickup truck off the ice onto the Kipling Boat Launch.
But the truck fell through the ice before they could get there.
The men jumped out and got very wet but made it to safety on their own.
Deneau was taken to the ER at OSF Saint Francis Hospital for hypothermia and frostbite.
Pelton was treated at the scene.
It’s the second time since last Thursday that a truck fell through thin ice at the north end of Butler’s Island.
The Delta County Sheriff’s Department lifted both trucks out of the ice earlier today.
