Presidential Cargo Jet Arrives at Sawyer
There’s a lot going on across Marquette County to prepare for President Barack Obama’s visit on Thursday.
Several cargo planes typically fly ahead of the President and Air Force One to bring in equipment needed in remote locations.
And that definitely includes the Upper Peninsula.
This morning, the President’s Advance Equipment Team arrived at Sawyer International Airport on a Boeing C–17 Globemaster.
It includes vehicles and aircraft that could be used by the President and his team while in Marquette.
Air Force One is expected to arrive at Sawyer Airport on Thursday.
The 12,300 foot runway can easily accommodate the Boeing 747–200B aircraft.
