Utilities Giving Out Free CFL Bulbs
Your power company may be your biggest ally in making your home more energy-efficient.
Several are offering free light bulbs to customers.
The Marquette Board of Light and Power is one of the companies participating in the special offer.
If you’re a BLP customer, you can get 9 energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs for free.
The CFL bulbs can even be mailed directly to your home.
You can order the bulbs online here.
Click on the free-light-bulb icon toward the top left of the page and then fill out the form.
The deadline to order the bulbs is a week from tomorrow — November 30th.
CFLs use 75% less electricity than an incandescent bulb to produce the same amount of light.
CFLs also last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs.
Other power companies are also making it possible to make your holidays a little brighter and less expensive.
Negaunee’s Electric Department is offering a rebate on each LED holiday light string purchased.
You’d have to submit a rebate application to receive $3.50 back per string light.
Rebate applications can be found online, at here.
