No Tax Refund This Year? Check Your Address
The Internal Revenue Service is looking for almost 3,000 Michigan taxpayers who are still waiting for a refund.
Undelivered refund checks to Michigan residents total more than $3 million.
The refund checks were returned to the IRS by the Postal Service because of mailing address errors.
The IRS can reissue the checks –- which average $1,315 –- after taxpayers correct or update their addresses with the IRS.
If you think you have a refund check due, there are two ways you can check on that.
One of them is to go online here and click the “Where’s My Refund?” tool.
You’ll have to submit your Social Security number, filing status and other information.
The online tool will provide the status of your refund and, in some cases, instructions on how to resolve delivery problems.
You can also check on a refund by calling the IRS toll-free at 1–800–829–1954.
