No Cuts from Marquette County Budget
Marquette County won’t have to make any drastic cuts to keep the services it currently has for another year.
The work on the fiscal 2011 budget has been ongoing for months.
The county’s general fund budget is a little over $21.5 million.
That will last through the end of next September.
County Commissioner Bob Struck says that’s part of the county’s total operating budget of a little over $47 million for the year.
The county board is expected to approve the new budget at its meeting tonight.
It may sound like a lot of money, but it’s the same as last year.
And that made the budget easy to balance.
The budget also covers unfunded mandates — things that the state of Michigan orders counties to do without providing the counties any additional funding to do them with.
