Last Hawks Ridge Defendant Sentenced
The last remaining defendant in the Marquette Hawks Ridge condo fraud case gets his sentence.
41-year-old Joel Westrom received a one-year delay of sentence.
If he completed the year without further incident, the charge against him could be dismissed.
Back in June, he pleaded no contest to obtaining money through false pretenses — more than $200 but less than $10,000.
That’s a misdemeanor that nets up to a year in jail.
Westrom has been ordered to pay nearly $1,200 extra in fines beyond the $5,800 in restitution he’s already paid.
One of Westrom’s business partners in Hawks Ridge, Michael Gokey, is spending a year and a half on probation after pleading guilty to fraudulent use of building contractor funds.
