LSSU Student & Track Team Member Dies
The city of Negaunee, and the entire U.P. sports community, is mourning the death of Dillon Menard.
He would have started his sophomore year at Lake Superior State next week.
But he died yesterday in his dorm room.
Menard was on LSSU’s track and field team and was making great strides entering the year.
Besides track, he also played football and basketball at Negaunee High School, which he graduated from in 2009.
He was also an honor student in the classroom.
Early reports on Menard’s autopsy show that his heart was defective and stopped while he was sleeping following a college orientation activity.
Funeral arrangements are set for Thursday at 1:30 at Koskey Funeral Home in Negaunee.
Dillon Menard was 19 years old.
