Gearing Up for Higher Tuition
Some colleges and universities will begin the fall semester next week, including NMU.
And this week, many parents may be shoring up their finances.
As we recently mentioned on ABC 10 News Now, Michigan Tech ranks as the most expensive university in Michigan’s Public 15.
Tech’s tuition increased almost 6% from last year.
The other two U.P. members of the Public 15 rank lower.
Lake Superior State came in 11th, despite tuition being up 5.7%.
NMU ranks as the second-least-expensive; tuition there is up 5.3%.
We at ABC 10 News Now spoke with NMU officials about the tuition ranking.
Vice president for finance Gavin Leach says by choosing financial aid as a priority this year, the university believes it was able to provide students more accessibility to higher quality programs.
The least expensive member of the Public 15 for this fall is Saginaw Valley State.
Students there will pay a little over $7,300 this year.
