Truck vs. Bike in Ishpeming
Another reminder tonight about the importance of knowing the rules of the road when it comes to bicycles.
A 12-year-old girl from Ishpeming was treated and released from Bell Hospital last night after she ran a stop sign and hit a vehicle.
The accident happened at the intersection of Empire and Fifth Streets just before 6:30 last night.
The traffic on Empire has stop signs at that intersection, but Fifth Street traffic does not.
The girl was riding her bike along Empire and did not stop at the sign.
She ran into a pickup truck driven along Fifth by 48-year-old Linda Jarvi of Ishpeming.
Ishpeming Police say the girl was at fault for failing to yield the right of way.
She was not issued a citation.
