Stamos Trial Begins

The John Stamos extortion case goes to trial in Marquette.

Jury selection took place this morning in U.S. District Court.

The 12 jurors were seated and then heard opening arguments in the case this afternoon.

30-year-old Scott Sippola and 23-year-old Allison Coss are charged with three crimes, including conspiracy.

They were arrested at Sawyer Airport in December after allegedly threatening to sell photos of Stamos to the media unless he paid them $680,000.

A spokesman for the actor says there was nothing embarrassing about the photos.

Stamos was in the courtroom this afternoon, and he’s expected to take the witness stand at some point during the trial.

The trial is expected to continue for at least three days.
