School Election Day
School Election Day in Michigan doesn’t affect every area of the state, or of the U.P.
But there are some issues up for a vote for entire counties and others for specific cities and towns.
Marquette and Alger Counties have to decide whether or not to give MARESA some additional funding for special education.
MARESA would then distribute that funding to every school district in the 2 counties.
In Ishpeming, the school district is looking at a tax bond proposal.
It would raise more than $1 million.
If approved, it would allow the district to put the funds to use on construction at Birchview Elementary School
In Alger County, the Au Train-Onota School District is looking at a 1-year extension of 18 mills on all property except principal residences.
This measure would collect more than $59,000.
Lots of other areas of the U.P. also have ballot questions and contested races to decide today.
Polls close at 8pm.
We’ll have results for you on CW 5 News Now at 10, and also on ABC 10 News Now at 11 tonight.
